Description Korhex Magic Motorsport – Flex add-on for direct MCU access

Korhex: open protected ECUs without desoldering anything

Korhex is a hardware add-on built by Magic Motorsport for the Flex programmer. It reaches the ECU microcontroller through a single contact point, replacing manual bench preparation: no resistors to desolder, no boot pins to wire, no board to flip over. Kit code KRX01.001, on pre-order with first shipments from 14 September 2026.

Why a protected ECU eats so much bench time

Anyone working in boot mode knows the tedious half of the job: open the ECU, flip the board over, find the configuration resistors and lift them, then wire the required pins by hand. Only then does the software come into play and the actual work begin.

Every extra step is bench time nobody pays for, and above all it is risk: stressed pads, thin tracks running next to fine-pitch packages, joints to redo once you are finished. On a customer unit, a mechanical mistake costs far more than the time you lost.

Traditional boot and Korhex, side by side

The difference is not in the software. It is in everything that used to happen before the software. Here is what changes along the way.

How the job goes, in four steps

The whole flow stays inside Flex from start to finish. Korhex slots into the access stage; it does not change the way you program.

  1. Prepare the ECU – Open the unit and set it up following the procedure Flex shows you for that model.
  2. Position Korhex – Rest the device on the indicated MCU contact point using the dedicated template supplied in the kit.
  3. Run the access – Launch the unlock operation from the software: no desoldering, no pins wired by hand.
  4. Carry on in Flex – From here you work as always: read, write, backup and program with the standard procedure.

What you can do on supported ECUs

Once access is granted, the available operations are the full set offered by the matching Flex protocol.

  • Internal flash – Reading and writing the program memory.
  • Internal EEPROM – Reading and writing the data area.
  • Full backup – A complete copy before any change, so you can always go back.
  • Boot unlock – Unlocking the protected unit through the dedicated procedures.

Is Korhex right for you?

It is not a tool for everyone, and that is worth saying before the order rather than after.

It makes sense if

  • you regularly work in boot mode on protected ECUs;
  • you already own Flex and want the desoldering station out of the way;
  • you handle volume, and procedure repeatability matters to you more than the price of the tool;
  • you want to take on modules you currently have to turn down or send out.

It makes little sense if

  • you do not own Flex: Korhex is not a programmer and does nothing on its own;
  • your work is almost entirely OBD and you rarely see the bench;
  • you are after a universal tool, independent of the Flex ecosystem.

Which configuration you need

What you have to buy depends on what is already on your bench today.

You own Flex Full Master or Full Slave with an active subscription

The software side is already covered: the Korhex procedures are included in your package. All you need is the hardware.

1,990 € + VAT

You own Flex, but with a partial software configuration

You can take the hardware and complete the software side, either by moving up to a Full licence or by adding the Flex Boot Glitch FLS0.20M/S licence.

2,190 € + VAT for the hardware, plus 900 € + VAT for the licence

You do not own Flex yet

Three things are needed: the Flex hardware, the Korhex hardware and the software licence that makes them work together. We will put the complete package together for you.

A short glossary, if the subject is new to you

MCUThe microcontroller: the processor inside the ECU that runs the engine or transmission management software.
Boot modeA microcontroller start-up mode that allows its memories to be read and rewritten when normal access is closed.
Boot glitchA family of procedures that exploit a precise timing window during MCU start-up to gain access on protected units.
Configuration resistorsThe components on the board that decide how the microcontroller starts: in the traditional method they must be desoldered to enter boot.
Full Master and Full SlaveThe two complete Flex configurations: a Master works independently, a Slave is tied to a Master that supplies its files.

Why order it from us

  • We check your Flex licence before the order and apply the reserved condition if you qualify, so you do not have to chase it afterwards.

Korhex frequently asked questions

What is Korhex?

It is a hardware add-on for the Magic Motorsport Flex programmer. It reaches the ECU microcontroller through a dedicated contact point and runs access and unlock procedures on supported units, without the manual preparation the traditional method demands.

Does Korhex work without Flex?

No. It is not a standalone device: it is an extension designed for the Flex ecosystem and only operates through the dedicated procedures in the Flex software. Without Flex it does nothing.

How is it different from traditional boot?

The result is the same, the route is not. Traditional boot means flipping the board, desoldering the configuration resistors and wiring the pins by hand. With Korhex you rest the device on the MCU contact point the procedure indicates and never touch a solder joint.

So I no longer have to desolder resistors?

Not on supported procedures: removing that step is exactly what Korhex was built for. Direct contact with the microcontroller takes the place of desoldering.

Is Korhex an ECU programmer?

No. Programming is handled by Flex, as always. Korhex only takes part in the access stage on a protected unit.

How does it reach the microcontroller?

It is placed on a specific MCU contact point, indicated by the Flex procedure for that ECU model. The kit includes the positioning templates that hold the device in the right spot.

Which ECUs are compatible?

It depends on the ECU, the microcontroller and the Flex protocol. The list of supported applications grows with each software release and is available in the Flex Vehicle List.

Do I need a particular Flex licence?

With a Flex Full Master or Full Slave configuration the procedures are already part of your package. With a partial configuration you also need the Flex Boot Glitch FLS0.20M/S licence.

How much does Korhex cost?

The hardware costs 1,990 € + VAT if you hold Flex Full Master or Full Slave with an active subscription, and 2,190 € + VAT with a partial software configuration. In the latter case the Boot Glitch FLS0.20M/S licence is also needed, at 900 € + VAT.

Why are there two different prices?

Because in the first case the software side is already covered by your Full licence with an active subscription, while in the second it still has to be completed. This page shows the higher price: if you qualify for the reduced condition we apply it once we have verified your licence.

What is the Flex Boot Glitch FLS0.20M/S licence?

It is the software licence that enables boot glitch procedures on Flex for users without a Full configuration. It is only needed in that case and costs 900 € + VAT.

What is inside the kit?

The Korhex device, the connector board, the MCU positioning templates, the USB cable and the power cable. Product code KRX01.001.

When does it ship?

First shipments leave from 14 September 2026. Production runs in scheduled batches and orders are fulfilled in chronological order of purchase.

How does the pre-order work?

You order now and reserve your place in the queue. The earlier the order, the sooner it falls into a shipping batch. We keep you posted when your unit enters production.

Do the prices include VAT?

No, the amounts shown are net of VAT. Tax is calculated at the ordering stage according to the buyer's country and tax status.

Do you ship outside Italy?

Yes, we ship throughout the European Union. Businesses with a valid EU VAT number get the correct tax treatment applied at the ordering stage.

Will more ECUs be added over time?

Yes. Korhex is built as a platform meant to grow: new applications and new protocols arrive through Flex ecosystem updates.

Do I need an active Flex subscription?

For the reserved 1,990 € + VAT condition, yes, the subscription has to be active. For using the tool, what counts is the licence enabling the supported procedures. If you are unsure where you stand, we will check it with you before the order.

Do you also need the programmer?

Korhex is an add-on and does nothing on its own. The programmer it relies on is Magic Motorsport Flex.
